Calendula is native to the Mediterranean; it likes a sunny spot in the garden and fertile soil.
The flowers are bright orange and we harvest them during the summer months. An oil extraction is made from the petals, and a wax extraction from the whole flower. Calendula contains natural iodine and resins, both have a healing function on the skin.
Calendula is one of the best herbs when it comes to dry red skin, minor cuts, grazes and burns. It is also used when the skin is naturally dry, affected by cold weather or drying out from heat or sunburn. Our calendula extractions are in;

Chamomile loves newly cultivated soil, but will also happily grow in between stony pathways. The Chamomile flower is highly scented, we harvest them during the summer months and make an oil, wax and glycerin extraction.
Chamomile flowers contain a volatile oil azuleen, which has a very soothing effect on the skin especially rashes, skin irritations and sensitive skin.

Chickweed appears in most gardens midsummer after other plants have died down such as in the potato patch. Chickweed is a creeping lush green plant with tiny star like white flowers, and must be harvested during very dry conditions. We make an oil extraction from the dried leaves and a wax extraction from partially dried leaves.
Chickweed contains saponins, which are very effective for soothing irritations especially when there is itching.

Comfrey likes a tucked away spot especially near the compost heap, where it can throw out large leaves and send its roots deep into the soil. Gardeners often gather the leaves to make a nutritious fertilizer for their plants.
We harvest the very young leaves in early spring and dry them; the roots are harvested in autumn when the nutrients return to the roots, and early spring when the roots wake from their winter sleep. We make an oil extraction from the leaf, glycerine and wax extractions from the root.
Comfrey contains alantoin and mucilage which helps reduce the swelling caused by bruising and binds tissues together helping to repair the skin when chapped or cracked. It is also very effective at the end of the healing stage of cuts and grazes to help prevent scarring.

This plant was traditionally used by the North American tribes people and is widely used here also. It needs some gentle encouragement and care to grow happily in our climate but once established is very content.
It is a tall plant with beautiful large purple petals and a bristle like reddish centre; its leaves are somewhat rough but it is the roots we use; we make a wax extraction and a tincture from these.
Echinacea contains echincoside, volatile oils and resins that are especially effective to help heal skin where there is viral activity and boost the natural healing process.
Our Echinacea extraction's are in:
- Lip balm for cold sores.

Lemon balm likes partial shade and fertile soil, has yellow green leaves and small white flowers but mostly we identify this plant by its lemon fresh fragrance.
We harvest the leaves in spring dry them and make an oil extraction. Melissa contains a volatile oil, which has a calming effect.
Our extraction is in:
- Relaxing Body oil

This plant needs some space in the garden, it is usually an annual plant, although sometimes over winters into its second year, it will flower all summer long. The purple flowers are harvested during the summer months.
The oil extraction we make from the petals is delicate white oil.
Mallow contains mucilage and volatile oil soothing to the skin and well tolerated by sensitive skin.
Our mallow extraction is in;
- Eye cream
- Moisturising lotion
- Energizing oil.

The marsh mallow plant has deep roots, velvet soft leaves and clusters of pale pink flowers; it is a perennial plant and likes a damp environment. We harvest the young leaves and flowers during July and August and make oil and wax extractions.
Marsh mallow contains mucilage and has a wonderful softening effect on the skin.
Our extractions are in;

This very tall plant loves dry slopes. It has very soft leaves and velvet soft yellow flowers, which blooms at random up and down the tall stalk all summer long. Mullein is a bi annual flowering in its second year.
We harvest the flowers all through the summer and make oil and glycerin extractions. The main active principle of the Mullein is mucilage, which protects and nourishes the skin.

Originally from the Mediterranean, sage likes a sunny spot in the garden. Sage has a very distinctive smell. We gather the leaves during the summer months and make a wax extraction; we also dry the leaves for an aqua's extraction. Its strong antiseptic volatile oils have a stimulating and natural darkening effect.

Thyme is a highly aromatic low bushy plant also originally from the Mediterranean. Thyme grows very happy in rich soil. We harvest the leaves early summer and make oil, glycerin and a wax extraction we also dry the leaves.
Thyme contains primarily volatile oils, which have a calming effect and helps reduce tension.
Our thyme extractions are in:
- Muscle Balm.

Also known as Pansy, it has beautiful flowers each petal has three colours, purple, yellow and white. When self seeded it establishes later in the summer and flowers well into autumn. We make an oil extraction, and also dry the flowers for an aqueous extraction.
Violet contains saponins and mucilage, which have a cleansing, soothing effect on the skin.

Yarrow is a very common meadow plant, flowering mid to late summer. It has very distinctive clusters of off white flowers. We harvest the flowers in July and August and make oil, glycerin and wax extractions.
Yarrow contains a volatile oil which helps improve circulation.
